Summertime again! Don’t you just love the feelng of sweat running down the crack of your butt? Yeah... me, too.
First off, we’d like to ask you to help us out with a funny little contest we felt compelled to enter. As some of you may know, KISS, along with corporate sponsor Guitar Center, is holding a contest for the honor of opening the show at various venues on their Summer 2010 tour. Simply as a lark, we decided to throw our hat into the ring to see how we might fare... and now we need your help to make it happen! Please go to the page on the Eventful.com website below, which contains links to the various cities, and from there a roster of the bands competing for each. Go to: http://eventful.com/competitions/kiss2010/holmdel , and you should be taken directly to the link for the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ... scroll down until you find BONEDADDY (hopefully it will be close to the top!) and hit the ‘Submit’ button. Maybe we’ll see you there ON STAGE!!!
Summertime is also the time when we’re able to perform at a few outdoor shows, doing some charity functions and bike rallies where they allow us to plug in and do our thing in the light of day (a scary proposition to be sure!) Coming up in the next couple of months, we’ll be donating our time and energies to help out those less fortunate, and hope that you’ll check our show schedule to see where you might be able to catch us in the act.
First up this month is a benefit for the family of Bob Annicchiarico, which will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 27th down at HIGH VELOCITY in Beachwood. We’ll be performing along side the mighty JOHNNY PIPE, INSTANT KARMA, and SMACK THIS! (a tribute to Godsmack), and doors are open to all ages, so feel free to bring the kiddies!
We will also be returning for the 2nd year in a row as the featured band at the 12th Annual NJ Elks MIRACLE RUN Bike Rally, which will be held this year at B.P.O. Elks Chapter 2229 in Old Bridge on Sunday, July 25th. This was a monster crowd last year, featuring riders from all over NJ, and we look forward to playing for you all again this year.
FInally, we want to thank all of you for your kind words and support for our friend and bassist Chris, who is back with the band, but is still completing treatment for his liver cancer. While his prognosis remains positive, he is still suffering from some of the effects of the chemotherapy, which have somewhat hampered Chris’ ability to be “100 percent” with regards to his playing. Naturally, Chris is his own worst critic, and most of you would never know that his chemo treatments have left him with a severe case of neuropathy, which is a lack of sensation in his hands and soles of his feet. This is a side-effect of the drugs, and the fact that he can play at all is astounding, as he has been primarily watching his hand in order to be sure he’s hitting all the right notes. This condition is not expected to be permanent, and so he continues to persevere in the knowledge that this is the worst it’s going to get.
Once again, thanks to all of you fans and friends alike to have helped to get us through what has undoubtedly been one of the most difficult years in the history of BONEDADDY. We appreciate all of the love and good vibes, and look forward to seeing you at one of our shows in the near future.
Cheers!!!
~Bart (as in 'Simpson')
